Abstract
Stars are everywhere, and understanding their formation is a key topic in astrophysics. Some young stars brighten episodically in rare events known as 'outbursts,' which impact their temperature, chemistry, and mass assembly. These outbursts—about 150 recorded in eighty years—provide insight into the early evolution of stars and planetary systems. This talk covered findings from two decades of monitoring with Indian telescopes on what triggers outbursts and how disk conditions change, as well as instrumentation work at TIFR focused on star formation studies.
