June 14, 1982

A complex active region, designated as Hale No.18422, appeared on the NE-limb on june 11, 1982. An intense 2b flare was observed on the south-western fringes of the active region (maximum phase at 0633 UT). Many filaments, criss-crossing this location, were seen in the 0604 UT frame. During the declining phase of the flare at 0719 UT dark loops could be seen forming and joining the sunspots of opposite polarities in H-alpha + 1.0A picture. Very fine loops also showed up in H-alpha + 0.5A at 0739 UT and later in fully developed form at 0745 UT (H-alpha - 1.0A) displaying a strong Doppler shift.Note a smaller flare F1 to the SW of the region.
