About Application Virtualization
As part of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Application Virtualization (AV) is implemented in PRL. A desktop operating system is installed and managed centrally from data centre. The desktop image or application is then presented to end-users which interacts with the user in such a way that it appears to be running locally on the user’s device. The endpoint devices may be Windows, Linux, Apple Mac OS or even a mobile device.
Feature of Application Virtualization
- Platform Independent access of application like MS Office, Internet Explorer on Linux, MAC.
- Easy Maintenance and Upgrade of OS and Applications.
- Employees can store their data in local drive OR even on central servers.
- User can print his/her documents via printer installed on local computers.
- The Application Virtualization is accessible from home internet also (At present through VPN).
- Antivirus software is installed on the central servers.
- No need to keep dedicated PC only to use Microsoft Windows specific application like MS Office, Internet Explorer, etc.
