Space Week Celebration at Udaipur Solar Observatory– 9th October 2018

In line with the Space Week celebrations at PRL, a one day event was organized at USO on 9th October 2018 by the faculty, staff, and students. Around 50 school children (from 8th to 12th standard) and their teachers from five Government-run schools located in and around Udaipur were invited to this event. These schools included the Senior Secondary School Badi, Senior Secondary School Dewali, Senior Secondary School Badgaon

Senior Secondary School for Girls (Residency) Madhuban, and Senior Secondary School for Boys (Guru Govind) Chetak.
The following activities were planned for the students, namely –
1. Welcome and Introductory lecture on the Space Week Celebrations in Hindi by Prof. Nandita Srivastava
2. Lecture on the Sun, Solar activity, and Space Weather in Hindi by Dr. Bhuwan Joshi
3. Visit to GONG
4. Visit to e-CALLISTO facility
4. Demonstration of the solar image with an 8 inch Celestron telescope
5. Demonstration of the solar spectrum using the 6 inch Coudé telescope and an Echelle grating
6. Demonstration of astro-kits
