Ship-borne measurements of
biogenic gases:
As a part of an international Joint
Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS) programme, we have made extensive
ship-borne measurements of N2O and CH4
in the Arabian Sea using the ORV Sagar Kanya. Both the marine air
and water samples (down to 4000 m) were analyzed onboard the
ship. Complete seasonal cycle of N2O
emission from the Arabian Sea region is observed. This region is
found to be a significant source of N2O
to the atmosphere.
