Rocket-borne studies of ozone:
Measurements of ozone profiles in the
stratosphere and lower mesosphere have been made using
indigenously developed rocket borne sensors. These sensors were
flown from Thumba, India and from Wallops Flight Center/NASA,
USA. The peak ozone concentration over Thumba was found to be in
the height range of 26-28 km. Large differences in ozone
concentration between day and night and during a solar eclipse
have been observed in the upper stratosphere and lower
mesosphere.
