The
general wind pattern during winter season shows transport from
the northern India and east Asian region to the Bay of Bengal.
Results obtained from three short cruises during 2001-03 over
this region show that ozone and its precursors are higher than
even those observed over the Arabian Sea. Extensive measurement
campaigns over this region are being planned to study transport
of pollutants from the surrounding regions.
