Balloonsonde
In order to understand the vertical
distributions of ozone and water vapour in the lower atmosphere
and their variabilities and impacts of meteorological conditions
and long range transport on ozone distribution, A new balloon
based program has been initiated. These balloons are being flown
every fortnight from PRL campus and attain ceiling height of
about 35 km. The balloon also carries a GPS, which gives precise
coordinates of the balloon trajectory and this information is
used to derive wind speed and direction.
