<Vikram Sarabhai Award>

Receiving the Vikram Sarabhai research award in "Space Sciences" for the year 2003 from Prof. U.R. Rao, on 12 August 2004.

Receiving the ISRO Merit Award 2015, for meritorous contributions to the Indian Space Program, from the Chairman ISRO, Prof. A. S. Kiran Kumar and Prof. Tapan Mishra, Director, SAC, Ahmedabad.


<Jocelyn Bell Burnell>

With Prof. Jocelyn Bell Burnell in PRL, 2014. As a young graduate student in 1969, she made what is considered to be the greatest discovery of the 20th century, viz. the discovery of pulsars.


<Scott Parazynski>

With Dr. Scott Edward Parazynski, PRL, 2016 - five time NASA Space Shuttle Astronaut, mountaineer who successfully scaled Mt. Everest (2009), scuba diver and sea-plane pilot.

  • Elected in 2019 as a "Fellow" of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).


  • Awarded the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Merit Award for 2015 .
    The award comprising of a medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rupees One Hundred Thousand is given annualy in recognition of meritorious contributions to the Indian Space Program.


  • Awarded the Vikram Sarabhai Research Award in Space Sciences for the year 2003.
    The award, has been instituted by PRL, with funds from the Hari Om Ashram Trust, Nadiad and comprises of a medal, and a cash prize of Rupees Fifty Thousand is given bi-annualy.


  • Awarded the Alexander Von Humboldt Research Award in Astrophysics for the year 1996
    by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn, Germany.


  • Awarded the "Young Astronomer", National Science Foundation (NSF, UAS) Grant, 1988
    to attend the Twentieth General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, Baltimore, U.S.A. and to visit the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, UK.
