PRL Post-doctoral and VISHWAS Fellowships Online Application Portal


HOW TO APPLY

Eligible candidates are requested to submit an ONLINE application using this portal.

The following documents/information will be required when making an ONLINE application.

  1. Abstract of Ph.D. thesis
  2. List of Publications
  3. A research proposal (maximum of 2000 words) is to be prepared in consultation with the proposed PRL PDF supervisor. The format of the research proposal should be as per the following points:(2 to 3 pages max)
    1. Motivation
    2. Introduction/background
  • Date of Seminar given in PRL (after applying for PDF position)
  1. Objectives
  2. Methodology
  3. Experience relevant to the proposal
  • Expected outcome
  • Timeline (details for the first year)
  1. Number of Publications in Peer-reviewed Journals
  2. Number of Publications in preparation/ under review from the PhD work
  1. Please give adequate details of what you would like to do vis-a-vis your expertise in experimental/modelling techniques for the proposed work. Candidates, in consultation with a PRL faculty member, must submit a research proposal outlining the research they would undertake during their post-doctoral fellowship tenure.
  2. Detailed Bio-data with educational qualifications, age, work experience, etc.
    At the time of the interview, the candidates are required to produce original documents of the following:
  3. No Objection Certificate from the employer concerned in respect of applicants employed under Central / State Government / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous Bodies.

Application Process:

  2. Activation through a link received via e-mail
  3. Log-in
  4. Start filling out the ONLINE application
  5. Go to Manage Profile and fill in the following forms:
    1. Submit personal details
    2. Submit PhD details
  • Submit/Update Qualification details
  1. Submit/Update Employment details
  2. Submit/Update Publications details

Go to ‘Submit Final Application details’ (provide details as per the fields provided). Referee details also need to be provided through this step.

Upon submission of ONLINE applications by the applicants, a system-generated e-mail will be sent directly to concerned referees for submission of recommendations. Applicants are requested to follow up with the concerned referees to ensure they submit the recommendation using a prescribed link sent to them.

Subject to further screening, candidates may be called for an interview only after all the necessary inputs are received.

Qualifications:

For Post-doctoral fellowship:

  1. Doctorate (Ph. D.)/thesis submitted for Ph.D. in any field of Science or Engineering. However, the area of research should be compatible and related to those pursued in PRL.
  2. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Science or Engineering with first class (60%) or equivalent grades at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

For VISHWAS fellowship

  1. Doctorate (Ph. D.)/thesis submitted for Ph.D. in any field of Science or Engineering. However, the area of research should be compatible and related to those pursued in PRL.
  2. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Science or Engineering with first class (60%) or equivalent grades at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
  3. Indian nationals holding a PhD (within four years of the award of degree), under 35 years of age on the last date of the application, and having first-class throughout their academic career.
  4. PDFs working at PRL are not eligible to apply.

The qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement, which does not automatically make candidates eligible for the interview. Only after the initial screening of the application and considering the merit of the submitted research proposal may the candidates found suitable be called for an interview at PRL.

Applications timeline for Post-Doctoral Fellowship:

The selection process will be conducted every quarter as per the following timeline:

  • January 2nd week- Deadline of receiving application including recommendation letter 30 November,

Applications timeline: 01st September – 30th November

  • April 2nd week- Deadline of receiving application including recommendation letter 28 February
    Applications timeline: 01 December – 28/29* February (*during leap year)
  • July 2nd week- Deadline of receiving application including recommendation letter 31 May and

Applications timeline: 01st March – 31st May

  • October 2nd week- Deadline of receiving application including recommendation letter 31 August

Applications timeline: 01st June – 31st August

Applications timeline for VISHWAS Fellowship:

The selection process may be conducted thrice a year, subject to adequate and eligible applications are received:

  1. 01 January – 30 April
  2. 01 May – 31 August
  3. 01 September – 31 December
