Current Research Interests
- Developing one plus two-body embedded random matrix ensembles with
group symmetries for many-body chaos in nuclei with particular
emphasis on deriving analytical results.
- Understanding chaos and regular structures generated by shell model
and interacting boson model geometries in nuclei.
- Statistical nuclear spectroscopy for level densities, occupancies and
Gamow-Teller strengths.
- Group theoretical models for nuclear structure.
- Proton-neutron pairing and structure of nuclei near proton drip
line.
The above studies make use of Wigner-Racah algebra for higher Lie groups
and theory of probability distributions in statistics. Partly they are
also computational in nature involving diagonalization of very large
matrices.
Future research interests
Future research will include, in addition to above, also:
- study of quantum phase transitions in nuclei using group theoretical
models and also supersymmetry in nuclei.
- Generating, using statistical spectroscopy and nuclear models, nuclear structure inputs for nuclear astrophysical processes such as rp-process, r-process, presupernovae evolution etc. and also for double beta-decay
- nuclear astrophysics.
